Hands-Free X-ray

February 14th 2023
Hands Free Radiography is an initiative that was created with the goal of reducing occupational exposure of veterinary workers while using a combination of restraint devices, radiation safety awareness resources and hands-free training workshops.

There are many types of restraint devices used on a patient to keep them comfortable on the x-ray table while allowing the veterinary staff to have as little radiation exposure as possible. The use of elastic straps, sand bags, foam wedges, and V-troughs, keep the patient secure on the x-ray table. Sedation of a patient may also be required to keep them safe and calm during the x-ray process.

At Falconridge Animal Hospital we are implementing the Hands Free Radiography initiative to reduce staff exposure to radiation to make a safe workplace for our staff and your pets!
